Cannon Beach | Haystack Rock | Surprise Proposal | Paige+Alonso
When Alonso reached out to me about the possible idea of doing a surprise proposal at Haystack rock in Cannon Beach, I was like helllllz yea lets do this! I had not done a surprise proposal at Cannon beach yet but this location would make it a little easier. The original plan was for me to be out on the beach first acting like a landscape photographer. I would have my tripod out so I would be easy to spot and then he would get down on one knee in the area and I could then snap the shots.
They both arrived into Portland from Utah on Thursday and he was originally going to propose on that Saturday. Unfortunately we were greeted with about 6 inches of snow the morning of and it made us unable to reach the coast. Thankfully they were staying until Tuesday so we rescheduled it to Monday (also her birthday). We start heading out there and it’s dumping rain. But we still have to make this happen. When we finally reached the beach it felt like the world was about to end. The wind must of been blowing 50 to 60mph and the rain was falling sideways. He still managed to get down on one knee and propose and I was able to snap a few shots with the five minutes I maybe had.
Due to the weather and having a very limited time to shoot I met up with them in Portland before they caught their flight at Coava Coffee downtown. This coffee shop fit their vibe perfectly! It had ample room to do a variety of shots inside. Towards the end we decided to venture outside in the rain and roam the streets!
Seriously I had such a blast with the both of them. Even though everything didn’t go quite as planned. Alonso told me he wouldn’t of wanted it any other way. It was true to them. Now looking back they have a very unique story to tell and some photos to go with it 😉
Cheers to you both!
